SOS Alarm

Our lone worker alarm button is a prominent feature on our app and devices, giving users a quick way to raise an SOS in an emergency.

How our lone worker alarm raises an SOS

Whether you’re using our PG Smart App, or PG Pebble, each has a clear button to raise an SOS. The PG Click is the button itself, giving users the option to send an SOS without having to unlock their phone.

Our PG Smart app only needs a small amount of data to send an SOS alarm, which means users can raise an alarm even in areas of low signal, and it will come through to the PG Cloud management portal and monitoring staff in milliseconds.

One tap to raise an alarm

Some lone worker apps require you to confirm a call when you’ve already pressed the SOS alarm button.

With Pick Protection’s PG Smart App, you only need to press this once to send the alarm to either your own monitoring centre, or an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) managed by one of our partner organisations. The only deice that requires a double click is the PG Click, so as to reduce false alarms.

What happens when you raise an alarm?

Pressing the SOS on an app or device connects the call through to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) where the operator picks up the call. Along with the SOS, they would also receive a GPS location.

They would listen to background noise, conversation or that person’s documented duress word if the person isn’t able to respond fully.

The operator would then go through a set of protocols which have been previously agreed and recorded for that person. This might include contacting their manager, their place of work, or the emergency services. If the ARC is BS8484 accredited, the operator will be able to facilitate a level 1 priority Police response if required.

In the meantime, the operator would continue to engage with the person who raised the SOS and relay valulable information to the contact or emergency services.
